Cambodia Trip : Day 2

Day 2 in Cambodia, woke up really early in the morning at 4:30am !!

Manage to cook instant noodles bought off from the nearby convenient store.

Is temple hopping time, you got to fill up your tummy !

*energy boosting*

The Temple journey shall began ! :)

First Stop: Angkor Wat

Angkor Wat is a must to visit as it is one of the most historical temple and largest religious monument in the world.

It was first a Hindu temple and later on under the influence of Buddhism, it became a Buddhist temple.

Here are some of the few pictures taken during my visit :

Note : If you like to see the sunrise, you got to reach there by at least 5:00am to be safe.

Next visit is Prasat Bayan also known as Smiley temple.

Why is that so??

Because there is plenty of smiley faces as you can see below :D

Next must visit is Ta Prohm

Beautifully grown tree roots covering around the temple, exciting to explore :D

Overall, these 3 temples sum up the most famous temples that you got to go!

However, there are other temples as well but visit only if you are interested  otherwise don't bother because its really tiring climbing and walking up and down and most of them look similar ><

Information:

The cost of hiring a Tuk Tuk driver is about 15 dollar.

A day Ticket Entrance cost 20 dollar.

After a few hours of temple visiting, I am still early to catch my complimentary breakfast buffet !

Hungry tummy is filled now !

By the way, I think is mango seasoned now, there is plenty of mango here !!!

SO SWEET :D

After resting for an hour, I head to Sala Bai Cooking School for Lunch.

The main purpose of this cooking school is to help underprivileged young teenagers especially girls since there are more vulnerably into human trafficking and so on to grow out of poverty by providing them skills to self provide them financially for free.

So by having your breakfast or lunch here, you are helping the cooking school to generate some profit to fund students :)

Thus here come by my slogan of eating for a good cause !

Free Wifi is available :)

Nice and relaxing atmosphere :)

We choose two of their set menu which is Western Set and Asian Set

 Each at 12 dollar.

Consider affordable compare to the prices in Malaysia !

Bread on the house and it was delicious !!!!!!! :D

Appetizer :

Both Western and Asian Appetisers are amazingly good !!!

Western Set: Scallops and Avocado salad with honey lemon dressing

Asian Set: Crab and sweet corn croquette with pineapple and mango relish

Mains :

Western Set: Duo of marinated oven roasted duck great and duck "Parmentier'

The roasted duck is the best I have ever eaten in my life.

Is a must to eat, you gotta trust me !!!

Asian Set: Poached Goby fish fillet and mussels in coconut broth

Average, the fish could be better handled

Broth taste nice :)

Dessert:

Western Set: Special's chocolate and walnuts cake with Mango sorbet.

The mango sorbet is nice but the cake was rather dry

Asian Set: Sweet black sticky rice with fresh mango

Not a fan of it ><

Overall, I like this cooking school very much!

Staffs were friendly and attentive :)

Thumbs up for the food !

After Lunch, I just head back to my hotel and slept throughout the afternoon.

Need to hid away from the blazing sun :(

For dinner, I head to HAVEN restaurant which is the 1st recommended restaurant in Siem Reap by Trip Advisor.

You have to book in advance before 2 or 3 days just in case.

HAVEN is similar with Sala Bai is a cooking school that provides free training for the underprivileged teenagers in Cambodia.

The only difference between them is HAVEN is founded by Swiss whereas Sala Bai is founded by French.

Pot of Tea at 2.75 dollar

Pumpkin Soup at 5.5 dollar

Delicious :D

Mixed Satay of Pork and Chicken in Cambodian Style at 4.75 dollar

Taste not bad :)

Cordon Blue with Mash Potatoes at 7.50 dollar

Taste nice but get bored of it quite fast :/

Fish and Chips at 6.75 dollar

Disappointment :(

Too fried and it lost all the natural sweetness of the fish

Throat feeling dry after eating it ><

Moist Chocolate Cake at 4 dollar

hmmm... this one is unique

Is one of the most moist cake I have ever eaten :)

Overall, I would rather suggest you to go to Sala Bai instead of Haven, thats just my opinion :)

After that I head to Costa Coffee for a ice blended coffee !!

Even though is night time, the weather can be still killing you !!!

Definitely need some Ice blended coffee :D

On the left is Iced Cappuccino at 2.8 dollar and right is Ice Mocha at 3.25 dollar

Both taste good, felt it was better than Starbucks

Too bad, there isn't any outlet in Malaysia yet :(

Overall, it was a great day ! :D
