F&B 2015-2016 Edition by Worthy Book Review

Merry Christmas everyone!

Hope each one of you have a great Christmas celebration.

I have started to feel the pinch on my purse especially during Christmas week as I tend to go out more often to meet up with my friends. At the same time, New Year is coming soon and I am getting more invitation for food outings. Gonna be broke pretty soon.

Here comes the rescue! Worthy Book have come out with their latest F&B edition for 2015-2016.

It works like groupon, the different is that you got to purchase this book first which cost RM29.90.

It has a variety of cuisines to choose from with different type of coupons.

Here is how it works, first pick a location "Midvalley".

I would flip those pages where it stated "Midvalley".

Manmaru is at Midvalley!

Thus, I am able to use its "Buy 1 Free 1 any Udon dishes".

Spotted Manmaru !

I am able to choose over 32 varieties of Udon, the free bowl will be either equal or lower value.

I am impressed by their varieties, we took some time to figure out what we want.

Finally we choose :

Niku Kimchi Udon @ RM 19.90

Sliced beef with Korean style spicy Udon Soup.

Ishiyaki Eringi Udon @ RM19.90

Stir fried assorted mushrooms with Udon in Hot Stone Bowl.

I love the Udon texture, its a bit thicker and chewy than the usual Udon available in the most Japanese chain in KL. Thumbs up from me :)

Time to pay for the bill, just tear out the coupon and pass it to the waiter.

Total damage : RM23.90 for two person which includes two green tea @ RM2 each.

In total per person with drink cost RM12.

A bargain I would say !!

Next stop : Dessert @ Komugi

I decided to use two of out of the four coupons, "Buy 1 Free 1 Creamy Custard Krone" and "Free 2 Macaroons with purchase of any slice cake OR roll cake".

I choose Honey roll cake @ RM 4.90 and got two free macaroons (Apricot cheese & Matcha flavours), each worth RM4.25.

I love their macaroons, I was surprised that it actually tastes good!!

Bought one Creamy Custard Krone and got one free.

I am not a fan of custard but my mum love it.

Guess what !! I only pay a damage of RM10.30 !!

The best part is I could share it among 2-3 people.

Each person cost around RM3.50.

Good damage:

This would really come in handy especially when food prices keep increasing these days.

A savy way to save money and enjoy at the same time ;)

I have managed to save a total RM33.20

1. A free bowl of Udon noodle (RM19.90)
2. Two free Macaroons (RM4.25*2 = RM.8.50)
3. A free Creamy Custard Krone (RM4.80)

I got my return back of RM3.30 since the book cost RM29.90.

If you continue to use these coupons, I believe you will be able to save much more.

On the side note, it depends on your location and preference.

The good thing about this is that you are able to see all the listed restaurants before consider purchasing it.  Click on the link below to know more!

Laguna Mabuhay Filipino Food @ Gereja Road

Today Special : Filipino Food @ Laguna Mabuhay  =D

Curious of what is it like? *scroll down*

For a hot sunny afternoon, one must order their coconut blend drink @ RM6!

Its a combination of coconut juice with a scoop of sweet vanilla ice cream

*its a bomb of a good refreshing start of the meal*

Due to our lack of knowledge on Filipino food, we opt for the advise of the restaurant owner for some recommendations instead.

He is humble and patient with us as he explained each dishes that he recommended to us.

First dish :  Pork Sisig @ RM12

Description: Is a Filipino dish that originated from Pampanga, a province located at the northern part of the Philippines. Known as a popular appetiser for beer drinkers.

It came in a hot plate with a raw egg on top, in this picture below, the staff had already mixed it together with the minced pork containing both ears & jowl.

The texture taste similar to a burger patty with a hint of chilies & calamansi.

A good option to start off eating Filipino food!

Second dish : Sizzling Stuffed Squid @ RM20

The squid is cooked in a perfect timing as it turn out to be soft and tender. *freshness from the sea*

Thumbs up *I really like it*

Third dish : Pinakbet @ RM14

Description: Pinakbet is an indigenous Filipino dish from the northen regions of Philippines. It is made from mixed vegetables steamed in fish or shrimp sauce.

For those who love steam vegetables you got to order this :D

Fourth dish : Crispy Pata a.k.a Pork Knuckle @ RM 43

This is a clear winner of all the dishes that we have tried! *Crowned dish*

Crispy skin and yet tender meat, this is the two main characteristics that a pork knuckles should have.

I can clearly see the satisfaction of my friends face, in just minutes the pork knuckles got stripped off, just left its chunky bones. Is either they are all a hungry beast or its just really delicious.

It comes with a soy-vinegar dipping sauce which can be a help for those who needs more kicking flavours or moisture.

Fifth dish : Grilled Milk Fish with Tomato and Onion @ RM25

First Presentation:

Second Presentation:

Description: Milkfish is known as bangús in the Philippines, where it is considered as a national fish.

The milk fish is stuffed with onions, tomatoes and ginger accompany with a spicy dipping sauce.

However this come in a slight disappointment for me as I find that the fish was a bit on a overcooked side. However my compatriots find it alright.

Nevertheless I have to give a thumb up to the chef on his de-boning skill sets, as this fish is known for its bony skeleton, it must be carefully removed to avoid customer being choked by its thorny bone

Overall damage :

For a group of 5, total damage was RM153, each person RM30.6.

I got to say overall is a reasonable pricing as one can have a coconut blend drink and yet at the same time able to try 5 authentic Filipino dishes!

Good news : no service charge and government tax *Bonus point x 2 *

Hubba Hubba @ Invito Hotel Suites, Lorong Ceylon

Its Friday !! *Yay!! *

Question: Where for lunch ???

My colleague introduced me to Hubba Hubba @ Invito Hotel Suites at Lorong Ceylon.

We opt for an outdoor setting since I almost freeze to death in my office. *cold*

Most of my colleagues opt for their Today's Set Lunch as it is the most ideal choice. *affordable*

Things to note, you only can choose either Greek Salad or Chocolate Mousse, it is stated on the left side corner of the menu.

There were few selections of teas such as English tea, Jasmine tea and etc.

This is a cup of English tea.

They provide 3 types of sugar namely white sugar, brown sugar and artificial sweetener.

Salad taste good and fresh :)

I like the way they put the balsamic vinegar at the side because some people may not like it in their salad.

Seafood Themedo Pasta worth for a try!

Its a creamy based pasta with considerably amount of fresh seafood.

Black Spice North Chicken with Lentil Rice

I like the taste of sour & sweet pineapple along with the black spice chicken.

However, I felt it was a bit on a salty side.

Those who cant stand saltiness in their food, would advise you to not order this.

Lastly, chocolate mousse.

Taste good !

Not too sweet and it complete the set lunch meal with a smile on my face :)

VietThai @ TTDI Review

It's on a Friday night, hungry and clueless *as usual*

Randomly called up a friend and asked for dinner... he said YES! *thank god*

Got picked up and he has no idea where to eat as well... *happened always*

As we exited from Taman Tun housing area, I saw this bright lighted "VietThai" restaurant, instantly I say "LETS TRY THAT" *too hungry I supposed*

Chef Kam Story!

This is my first time trying a combination of both Vietnamese and Thai food.

I am equally excited how it would taste like after reading his story *higher expectation*

As usual, lesson 101 when trying a random restaurant :

Choose the cheapest or average * okay.. its me... I have a smaller budget*

Logically, you don't want to spend big and get disappointed right?  *simple ;) *

Their prices ranges from 18 till 75 ringgit *if I remembered correctly*

You will be given 4 selection of sauces : Red cili Padi Nam Pla, Garlic Nam Pla, Green Cili Padi Nam Pla and Ground Chili Powder.

Description below :

I ordered "Vietnamese Seafood Vermicelli Noodle Soup" @ 25

It came in a BIG BOWL! but portion wise remain average *surprised!!*

Seafood taste fresh, the soup taste rather simple with a hint of sourish taste

Recommend for people who like a simple bowl of soup or rather people who just recovered from sickness and cant eat spicy stuff, this would be perfect for you as well.

I am a type of person who like stronger flavour thus not recommended for people who are like me :)

If is too plain for you, add on this mind blowing sauces into your soup

*instant new burst of flavours*

My personal favourite is Garlic Nam Pla :D

My friend ordered "Tom Yum Seafood Rice" @ RM18

Straight to the verdict " Thumbs UP "

As I have mentioned I like a stronger taste, thus this is perfect for me !

Its a bit spicy, seafood taste fresh, right balance of Tom Yum flavour and the rice were fried well together with all the ingredients :D

Readers go for this !! *is a why not question now* hahaha

Overall its an enjoyable evening with good food...

It keep up with its promises !

Will visit here again to try other dishes :)
