Kangkung Fever ON and You Don't know to Cook Kangkung? Here is my Mama Kangkung Recipe !

With PM statements about Kangkung recently... We, Malaysian have become known internationally for Kangkung. LOL.....

So if foreigners ask you about how to cook Kangkung like in Malaysian style and you don't know...
A bit embarrassing larr... isn't it.. hahaha :P  don't put off.. our beloved PM effort for putting us to another international level media frenzy k?

Today I am going to teach you how to cook a simple Kangkung Belacan *guarantee sedap!!*

You will need Chillies
Note : If you like spicy, add more of those small chillies. (shown in the picture)
If you can't stand too much of spiciness then go for the big chillies.

Kangkung that is nicely cut into half

Dry small prawns..slight chop into pieces.

Sambal paste, can buy anywhere in the supermarket.

A hot pot

Here is the cooking process :

Put the chillies, dry prawns and one spoon of sambal sauce.
oh ya.. plus 3 big cloves of garlic chopped !

After that put the Kangkung  inside the boiling pot for about 2 minutes or so.
(depend on the quantity) Rough estimation needed.

This is an important step as if you skipped this step your kangkung will taste starchy and hard.

So please do cook the Kangkung inside the Hot boiling water First !

After it is almost 70% cooked put into the cooking wok to stir fry.

( sorry for the bad image,  was indeed busy cooking ><)

After a few minutes...Tada !! Here is My Mama Style Stir Fry Kangkung !

Enjoy :)

Note all the ingredients are always based on my rough estimation and also depend on the quantity of vegetables. Thus I didn't provide exact amount needed for each ingredients.

Hope it helps !

Cheers,
Elena.

Day -7 to CNY : Dipping London Almond Cookies into Steaming Chocolate Pot ....Yum Yum !!

Is been a tradition for me and my mama to always dip her London cookies into the chocolate Pot together since I was about the age of 10 years old..

A total of 13 years of tradition and lovely moments with my mama :)

Is always been the same process.... even the cooking pot still stay same for over 13 years haha.!!

The same old National Brand Cooking Pot had never fail us so far.. Still Rock and Roll *Yay*

Just that the chocolate we took this time was Beryl's Dark Chocolate :) It taste better !

It taste kinda sweet and a little bitter taste. *Yum*

That is sure lots of tiny paper cups Because Me and my Mama were going dip a total 800 London Almond Cookies !! About 5 years back my mama decided to sell her London Almond Cookies.
She have received too many orders and we end up in the kitchen dipping chocolate from 7pm to 1am.

Beside that She even fall sick during Chinese New Year with a Bad cough that last her months to recover. Since then I have banned her from taking orders.  Health is more important after all :)

Setting up trays for the London Almond Cookies

This is vegetable oil also known as Shortening. It will be added together with the melted chocolate.
It add shine to chocolate * some blink blink*

These are my mum lovely London Almond Cookies that we are going to dip into the chocolate.

She made these till 1 am.. is very tedious job and is not easy to wrap the roasted almond with the dough.

The roasted almond must not cover with too thick biscuits if not it doesn't taste good. You need to wrap it until ngam ngam cover it up.. As in precisely cover up the almonds with the biscuits till not too thin not too thick.

Here the process of adding a few pieces of biscuits onto the chocolate pot one by one.

After dipping it, take it out and put onto the paper cup.

These are almond chips, an important deco for the last finishing.

Ta Da....My Mama Lovely London Almond Cookies !

After finishing up about 600 of London Almond Cookies..... My feet become sore from standing from the same position and doing the same thing over and over again ><

Thank God I am here to be able to assist my mama :)

Almost Finishing up..... *Hurray*

These two biscuits some how were accidentally stick together haha... Me and mama both each took one to try :)

Thanks for all the hard-work and time spending to bake cookies for us to eat !

I love you Mama <3

Love,
Elena

Suki-Ya Review : Japanese All You Can Eat Buffet

One thing good about been early to a restaurant is that You can have the freedom to snap every nook and corner you want without getting stares :D

Today I am going to review about Suki-Ya.

Is been a long time I want to do a Review about it.

Things to take note:

Firstly : You are only limited to two hours of dining limit.
Secondly : RM3.5 will be charged for every 15 mins after 2 hours

Thirdly : You only get to choose two soup base.
There are 4 options to choose from:

Kimuchi
A midly spicy soup made with authentic Kimichi base, spicy Miso and various vegetable base.
( In my opinion is not spicy, is just that when the soup boiled, it taste hot)

Sukiyaki
Cooked in a sweetened soy-sauce broth

Miso Soup
Miso is made from fermented soybeans

Shabu-Shabu
Low calories and light on the palate.
For those who likes a slightly bland taste.

And I always choose Kimchi and Sukiyaki ><

Kinda rigid pattern.. I am just too used in ordering the same soup base.

Weird thing is I never got bored over it !

Beside that you can choose any 3 types of meat either chicken, beef and lamb.

Mmmm.... this is where you can try to eat up as much as you can to make the price tag worth it.

But then again, no matter how much you eat,  you will never beat them if not they probably would not survive that long. So a tips for you all : Don't try to beat Suki-Ya haha....

Beef Slices

Lamb Slices

Chicken Slices

Varieties of Vegetables to choose from.

I noticed they didn't label the vegetables name in English but in Japanese.

I guess all those were common vegetables that anyone should know :)

Were proud of myself at one moment when I could read almost all the vegetables name in Japanese hehe..!

Selection of Sushi

Eggs...
Few types of sauce, wasabi and ginger slices.

3 types of salad dressing.

3 selections of Ice Cream to choose from :

Green Tea, Chocolate and mixture of both.

4 selection of Toppings.
Chose either cone or cup.

Time to Hok Chak !! (Hokkien words mean Eat !)

Two sauces to dip your food.
Really like the Chilli Sauce ! Very nice :D

I always believed that whenever I am in a Buffet Session I will not picked any cheap selection such as enoki vegetable and so on.  Note :  Enoki one pack worth only RM 1.5 or sometimes even cheaper.

But whenever I went to Suki-Ya I would take the enoki and put onto Sukiyaki soup base.
It taste delicious !  argh...

Overall :

Taste : 6.7
Value : 6.5
Service: 7

Total : 6.73

I do think Suki-Ya is one of the most worth while choice to make whenever you decide to eat Steamboat. It has a good ambience, services, value and food overall. Best place to hang out with your family and friends. Eating in Steamboat style do sometimes get the chat along :)

A Few Comments

I have been to Suki-Ya for a total of 4 visits between mid 2013 and 2014.

Twice in Pavilion, once in Mont Kiara and once in Paradigm Mall.

A few comments about these 3 outlets :

Pavilion outlets : Very pack and long queue always during lunch and dinner time. Ice cream tends to be watery due to too many demand. The ice cream machine can't keep up with the flow.  Nevertheless service is fast and efficient.

Mont Kiara outlets : The slices of meat were very much thicker compare to Pavilion and Paradigm Mall outlets.  Too chewy for me.. would prefer thinner slices. Due to the inflow of customer were much lesser than Pavilion and Paradigm Mall outlets, the sushi rice had become rather dry.Nevertheless the service were fast and efficient.

Paradigm Mall outlets :  The slices of meat were perfect but service were a bit slow.
